Hotels

Cavendish Hotel

Morton Cres, Exmouth EX8 1BE, UK – 01395 272528

Here for a twixmas break. Staff helpful and friendly. Food fine , beds comfortable, shower easy to use. Entertainment fine if you like that kind of thing . Right on sea front

Went there for the weekend had a lovely time food was lovely and the staff were friendly well worth the money and we'll go again x

The Imperial Hotel

The Esplanade, Exmouth EX8 2SW, UK – 0844 499 9357

Perfect setting to stop for a drink on a sunny afternoon, there's plenty of free tables outside as it never seems to get very busy here. I suspect that is because it's not cheap, two drinks will set you back about £12 but I believe it is justified as it ensures you will always be able to enjoy a quiet drink right on the beach front even on the sunniest of bank holidays.

This is in a great spot and the restaurant is beautiful with a great menu. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I would most certainly stay here again and hope for better weather so i could stroll along the beach.

Dolphin Hotel

2 Morton Rd, Exmouth EX8 1AZ, UK – 01395 263832

Most comfortable (and by far the biggest) hotel bed I've ever slept in! Really nice room and bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of food and choice with the breakfast ( included in the room rate ). Very conveniently situated for both town centre and sea front. Parking a bit difficult, but you can reserve a space if you book early enough. Will definitely stay there again.

The double room was pleasantly decorated and clean. The bed was very comfortable. There was no shower just a bath with rubber shower hose to connect to the tap. Could have done with a full size mirror in the bedroom. I would stay there again and would recommend. Try to pre book your parking as space is limited. Close to car park though and good central location.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Oddfellows

High St, Exmouth EX8 1NP, UK – 01395 277030

I've been here a few times and can't actually fault the place. The staff are lovely, food and drinks are really good. Especially the chips! Lovely set up inside, nice fairly decent size outside area and they have games which is a lot of fun.

Good waitresses, generally good service. Average prices. Very good food. A bit slow to arrive at table though (half hour, wasn't busy at all). Daft way of presenting prices on menu too. "14/ 1/2" is £14.50 ~ Why not just write it as, er... "£14.50" maybe?

The Grapevine Brewhouse

2 Victoria Rd, Exmouth EX8 1DL, UK – 01395 222208

Awesome place. Stopped by for a beer, found it to be a micro brewery, with a great selection of ale. Sat down to drink, read the food menu and decided to have a dessert, as we ate dinner before coming out. Definetly coming back :)

Great value, dogs welcome, which was lovely as we've got two. After we'd got our drinks the barman came across and put down a huge tub of water, made a fuss of the dogs and made sure they both had a drink. Lovely pub.

Grove

Esplanade, Exmouth EX8 1BJ, UK – 01395 272101

Lovely to sit outside in sun across road from the sea. Good food, plentiful helpings and nice house wines to add to a welcome experience after a long walk along the sea front. Have visited twice .... Nothing to disappoint.

Good proper pub feel with a lovely balcony area overlooking the sea and large beer garden. Reasonable prices for food although the drink prices are slightly higher compared to others in the area. Can get very busy when the Sun is out so expect a wait, I would recommend this as a place to stop for an afternoon and just soak in the beach front atmosphere.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Channel View

Channel View, Esplanade, Exmouth EX8 2AZ, UK – 01395 222555

The Channel View has some nice food - beans, chips and even fish. The ice cream they have on the dessert menu is also exceptional; decorated with different flavours, sprinkles/ cream/ sauce and miscellaneous. This restaurant used to be Pirate-themed. Did you know that they now have a salad bar (perhaps?)

Perfect location for town and beach. Great flat.

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Saint Johns Farm

13 St John's Rd, Exmouth EX8 5EG, UK – 01395 263170

Been coming here for 20+yrs, owners are brilliant as are their family. We meet up with friends of old and have also made some new ones. The majority of the campers are quite friendly and approachable some not so, but you always get one idiot.

I love St John's farm very clean the owners John and Sue are lovely all ways there to help if needed great facilitys great place to have a holiday highly recommended

Devon Cliffs caravan holiday centre

12 Essington Cl, Exmouth EX8 4QY, UK – 07511 122322

We had a lovely weekend here and would definitely come back. The caravan was lovely and had beautiful views. The complex and the beach were a short walk away. The pool was huge and great for the kids. The beach is massive and has rock pools which the kids loved. They loved the sandy park by the swimming pool too. The evening entertainment was really enjoyable. Everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave.

Superb stay. Stayed in one of the newer vans and it was perfectly clean and very smart. Prices in the bars were reasonable for a holiday place and the grounds kept very up together. To be expected, you could be waiting at the bar or for food to come out but not surprising as it was pretty busy and more staff would have slowed service in some cases. We'll return.

Prattshayes Campsite & Exmouth Country Lodge

Maer Ln, Exmouth EX8 5DB, UK – 01395 276626

Spent one night there whilst backpacking. Hot showers and clean bathroom area. There's a decent bar the also serves coffee. The tent area is separate from the caravan section Sona little quieter. Gradual slope but nothing too bad for camping.

Yeah, it's OK.... Pub on the premises is excellent, we hired a cottage for my 50th birthday. The beds are comfy etc etc. Although the kitchen apparently is well equipped with one saucepan with no lid and one small sharp knife to prepare an entire meal for ten people. There was no comfy sitting area as the room was used for beds. The only sofa was a sofa bed upstairs. Parking was a pain with caravans everywhere and other people just blocking us in. I had a great time despite all this but was dampened when we got home by an email from the company asking for more money. Apparently they didn't register that a dog was being bought with us and this incurred a charge, yet it was clearly stated in our booking at the beginning that a dog would be there. Also there was a stain on the carpet..... I'm still waiting for pictorial evidence as I can't recall any stain after our final check before leaving and if there was a stain, £50 is a helluva lot of stain remover!
